Miami University Art Building - Corridors

The project consisted of the renovation of 11,029 SF of the stairwells, corridors, and restrooms within Miami University’s existing Art Building. The design intent of the renovation was to modify the character of the public spaces and to increase functional aesthetics creating increased opportunities to showcase student artworks.

The first and second floor corridors were completely renovated including removal of quarry tile flooring with the polishing of the underlying concrete floors. Wall and ceiling finishes were upgraded. LED lighting replacements occurred to brighten the space and allow for better lumen control.

The project team documented existing conditions to assist in assuring maintenance of the project’s budget. The project was subsequently completed on time and under budget.

The project successfully modernized the Art Building and representationally reflects the goals of the program. The continually accessed corridor renovations created gallery spaces for students to both display and highlight their works.
